What is Pathan?
Pathan is a open source library which allows developers using Xerces-C to parse and evaluate XPath expressions for XML node selection.
Pathan has been developed jointly by DecisionSoft,
Sleepycat Software
,
Stylus Studio
and
Parthenon Computing
.
Pathan 1
supports the W3C
XPath 1
specification.
A beta version of
Pathan 2
has been released. Pathan 2 aims for
XPath 2
compliance. The beta release is conformant to the the
November 2003
release of the specification.
What is the latest version?
Pathan 1
Pathan v1.2 release 2 was
released
on September 4, 2003. It supports the W3C
XPath 1
specification and conforms to the W3C DOM Level 3 XPath specification from February 8 2002.
Pathan 2
Pathan v2.0.0 beta was
released
on August 10, 2004. Pathan 2 aims for
XPath 2
compliance. The beta release is conformant to the the
November 2003
release of the specification. It conforms to the February 2004 publication of the W3C DOM Level 3 XPath working note.

CVS tree.
Is Pathan available?
Source code and precompiled library downloads for Pathan 1 and Pathan 2 are provided on the
download
page. The latest sources for Pathan 2 are available for anonymous access in the
CVS tree.

open source licence.
Why Pathan?
We are often asked, apart from the oblique reference to Path,
why we chose the name Pathan.
