Welcome to the homepage of DecisionSoft Open Source.

DecisionSoft has open sourced Pathan , an XPath compliant parsing and evaluation module for the Xerces-C XML parser by the Apache Software Foundation. Pathan has been developed jointly by DecisionSoft, Sleepycat Software , Stylus Studio , and Parthenon Computing .

Pathan provides a powerful, standards-compliant means of performing arbitrary selection of nodes from an XML document. Close integration with the Xerces-C parser allows the rapid development of advanced XML applications.

Pathan 1 fully implements the W3C XPath 1 specification and is available for download, in source form and precompiled for Linux, Windows and Solaris. Visit our Pathan 1 page for more information.

Pathan 2 aims to fully implement the new XPath 2 specification, and is now in beta release on the download page. This release is conformant with the last release of the specification. Pathan 2 is also publicly available from the Decisionsoft CVS tree. We welcome interest and participation in the Pathan 2 project. Perl bindings for Pathan 1 are also available. Pathan-P builds upon the Xerces-P Perl bindings for Xerces-C.

DecisionSoft has also made a number of XML tools available as open source.

10/08/04: Pathan 2.0.0 beta released. This contains many performance improvements over the alpha release, as well as bugfixes and improvments to the public API.

04/09/03: Pathan 2.0.0 alpha released! This is the first release of our XPath 2.0 compliant library.

04/09/03: Pathan 1.2 release 2 released, featuring a few bug fixes and some performance enhancements. Includes binaries for use with Xerces 2.2.

30/05/03: Pathan 1.2 release 1 released, featuring performance enhancements since the first release and including binaries for use with Xerces 2.2.

17/02/03: Pathan 1.2 release 0 released, including binaries for use with Xerces 2.2.

18/09/02: Pathan 1.1 release 2 binaries built with the Xerces 2.1 library posted.

16/09/02: Pathan 1.1 release 2 released with interface speed improvements.

02/09/02: New sunCC compiled Pathan 1.1 binaries.

16/07/02: Website updated with news of Pathan 2.
